LOTF passage 1
Throughout the first passage Goldings uses words with TH in almost every sentence. This technique helps the reader move from place to place in the passage without actually singling out any one character. This makes the passage much more suspenseful and puts the reader on the edge of their seat as you figure out what will happen at the end of this scene. With the use of the TH Goldings was also able to make the scene full of adjectives and only add to the description Goldings has put into this book. When Goldings uses the TH in this passage it sets you up for later on in the book because Goldings likes to you TH words to get his point across using the most descriptive words possible.

Give me some examples of Golding's use of TH. I like that you notice a sound because this is critical in the text (especially at the end, as you say). However, explain more about the effect. Why does the TH sound move the passage along?
